Henley Tech's founder, Steve, was always fascinated by electronics and the laws of physics. The early years of his career post-university took him into the world of boat electronics; for the next 49 years, his career kept him 'afloat' both literally and financially.
In the late eighties, Steve set up Marine Entertainment Systems Limited which grew with the invaluable knowledge of his university friend Chris Miller into one of the first major businesses to service the needs of the superyacht industry. Working with new builds in Germany, Holland and Italy for months on end while serving yachts in the Caribbean or wherever their owners happened to be - this was the lifeblood of MESL. It was exciting and technically challenging, evolving constantly as new tech became available.
Settling in 2015, Steve gave up the high seas for the inland and gentler waters of the UK's lakes and rivers; thus HTS was born in Henley-on-Thames. Steve made many friends on the river where his friendly, outgoing personality and his deep understanding of the workings of electric propulsion made him the go-to engineer. He wore his brilliance lightly and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with customers & industry professionals alike.
The HTS team look forward to paying homage to their inspirational founder for many years to come.
Electric propulsion installation - complete packages to replace diesel or petrol systems
Meet the team
Escaping from the world of network engineering for the considerably more enjoyable world of boats and marine electrical systems, Lukas joined HTS in 2026.
He enjoys getting stuck into installations, upgrades and fault-finding, with a particular interest in battery technology, electric propulsion, charging systems and all things Victron.
Living aboard his own boat means there is always another project waiting at home, so even away from customer boats, there is a good chance he can be found improving, repairing or tinkering with the systems on his own floating home.
Trained by Steve as an eventual replacement for himself, Lukas impressed the 'master' with his openness and intelligence, and is now your first port of call at HTS.

Gillian Nahum
Director
Gillian Nahum has been in the electric boat industry since 1987 and was for a few years the chair of the Electric Boat Association.
The past 50 years have seen an exciting renaissance in the electric vehicle scene. It was originally to support Gillian's boat sales & hire activities that Steve started HTS.
Eventually they married with both Gillian's Pure Boating fleet and electric boat sales benefitting massively from the in-house expertise.
Gillian stepped in as Managing Director to help lead and develop HTS as a tribute to her much-loved late husband.
Eric arrived from the desk-bound world of database consultancy but, lured by fresh air and friendly clients he has become HTS's expert installer and all-round practical engineer. "Service with a Smile" indeed...
