It’s so quiet that you wonder if the propeller is even turning.

Thames Childe

Project background

“Thames Childe” is a well-known slipper launch which operates both as a charter vessel and an umpires launch for the Wargrave and Shiplake regatta every summer. She had an aged diesel engine, noisy and fume-emitting.

Our work

We've converted her to electric propulsion using a powerful motor and a lithium-ion battery pack.

The result

This electric boat conversion enables her to run at the speed limit for at least eight hours and is capable of bursts up to 15km/h. The motor is direct drive, so no noisy gearbox or belt drive; it's so quiet that you need to look at the instrumentation to check that the propeller is going around at "tick-over".

Please contact us to discuss your project or for more information about this project.
